The deadlines to submit proposed resolutions and amendments for the next KI-EF convention are approaching. They have to be submitted by postal mail or email to the KI-EF secretary, Francesco Valenti, who has provided these guidelines that explain how to submit proposals. Please share this information in your district!
A new issue of KI-EF Update, the newsletter for all European Kiwanis members is out. It has been emailed to members and can be viewed and downloaded here in four languages. Don’t miss Updates on the KI-EF convention in Reykjavík 2019, the Happy Child project, the European Young Kiwanis Summit in Lisbon and more!
Are you a young Kiwanis member? Age between 18 and 35? You are invited to the first European Young Kiwanis Summit to be held in Lisbon, the capital and largest city of Portugal, march 22. – 24. march 2019.
At the beginning of a new year we must reflect on how we did last year and what we see in the future. Last year was in many years a great success. Especially we can rejoice in the great fortune of the first year of the Happy Child service project for orphaned refugee children. We will also embrace the project this year and hopefully take to new heights.
As KI-EF president it is also my special ambition that we can take real and effective steps in the birth of a KIE as an legal entity and affiliate of KI. Whenever or if we reach our goal we will have to embrace the biggest change in our history as a Federation. Now it´s time for action and to bring this issue to realization or not!
As of writing the post we do not have the final results of our year end membership numbers. Yet I´m afraid that we are still shy of our exclusive number of being 30000 European Kiwanians strong. In past years we have come close, but not close enough.
Nevertheless we must applaud the efforts of those that have been industriously and effectively engaged in membership, by opening new clubs and introducing and bringing hundreds of new members in to our organization and to service for the children locally and globally.
Mid october is the usual yearly moment to hold an event about Growth in Kiwanis Europe.
This year the event fixes on two goals
Main goal of the growth summit is to motivate district chairs of growth/the formula, to work out strategies to increase footprint of Kiwanis in the districts, and to explore and exchange different (new and existing) formats of Kiwanis clubs that can raise the membership in the districts.
The summit should result in concrete action plans (‘game plans’) for growth made by the governors and their formula chairs, commitments to work on increase of Kiwanis’ footprint, and those will be followed up by exchange reports between districts (in the format of a ‘governor planner’), which will report progress of membership in the district.
On the other hand Jon Fadri Huder, current KI-EF Vice president, has another precious item to share this weekend. For him it is essential that the strategic plan is not only discussed and approved by the new governors, but also that all of them express clearly their engagements, not only from their personal part, but also to motivate their lieutenant-governors and formula chairs to make this a priority in ALL districts.
