France-Monaco – Disabled Children on Wings
France-Monaco – Disabled Children on Wings
In April and June 2000, Kiwanians in the District France-Monaco began a project called “Disabled Children on Wings”. In cooperation with pilots who are obligated to fulfil their flying hours and who, above all, share a big sense of generosity and a passion for their favourite sport, a ‘first flight’ operation was organized. Throughout the District, 1200 Kiwanians were present at 80 aerodromes and 250 pilots generously replied to our request. 1500 underprivileged and handicapped children saw, for the first time in their lives, their little piece of earth from the sky. For most of them, this little piece of earth or town will be for years their sole and unique universe.

One of our members, a Lt. Governor from Delta du Rhone in France, summarised this event as follows: 'when a handicapped child, holding your two hands, tells you: Merci Monsieur, this was the best moment of my life, then you forget all the work you have invested for days and days and you just feel good!’
This project will be repeated this year and Kiwanians in the France-Monaco District will see more happy faces of children that need our support.
